The Turkish government is clearly concerned about the prospect of the initiatives implementation which aimed to cease hostilities in Syria. Artillery shelling of border areas and other forms of direct military aggression are accompanied by various kinds of diplomatic demarches and provocations. At the same time, Ankara keeps supporting opposition-minded terrorists on the Syrian territory.
The only acceptable result for the current Turkish government during the civil conflict in Syria is to overthrow al-Assad’s regime. Ankara is ready to implement any provocation in order the truce established in Syria since February 27 under the agreement between Putin and Obama to be violated.
Erdogan’s basic strategy in Syria is to provoke the Kurds troops as well as al-Assad’s and Russia’s forces as the most active participant in the process to resolve the situation in the region. Turkish leadership believes the response to the provocation will give him certain carte blanche and will provide an opportunity to invade the Syrian territory launching a full-scale military action using all available means. And Erdogan will not stop its aggression until Turkish troops overthrow the regime he hates so much.
