Did Erdoğan set up an attempt at Kılıçdaroğlu?

On Thursday, it was reported that some assailants opened fire at the convoy of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, leader of the Republican People’s Party (CHP). The incident occurred in northeast Turkey. Three members of the security forces were injured, no one else got hurt. According to the Turkish interior minister, the attack was organized by Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). But who would say that it is of any good for Kurds to kill CHP leader? Of course not, this is just nonsense! However, there is at least one man for whom such a murder would be extremely profitable.

Amid the ongoing crackdown on journalists, judges and the military, Erdoğan is seeking ways to ensure he’s the one and only man in power in Turkey. Obviously, he will try to get rid of his political rivals by all means. Kılıçdaroğlu is the main opposition leader and his murder would have led to chaos among the oppositonal movement. Thus, there wouldn’t be even a hint at political freedom in the country.

Today Turkey is still witnessing continuing human rights violations: tens of thousands of people are being detained and arrested, they are tortured in prison; dozens of media outlets were closed down; human rights organizations just can’t do anything to fix the situation. Won’t it be a great chance for Erdoğan to become a dictator?
